so we went and did the test again and made a small animation for our final piece shown in the screen shots below. we decided to use flash to animate our final piece, however instead of overlaying a map of the space onto our animation we decided to let the movement of our orbs create the shape of the surrounding area.

Although i feel that this piece put our idea across nicely i feel that it suffered from a lack of animation skills on our part.

Notating my idea

I was thinking of maybe drawing out a map of the space and the location of the receivers and then marking on the map who was there and when. I should also be able to draw a rough line between these points.

if i could get some sort of program that allowed me to calculate the signal strength (ie the distance away from my receivers) i could then in theory pin point the rough location of that person.

On a different note i was also thinking of mapping th building out by walking speed and time rather than distance. taking the average walking speed into account and measuring how long it would take u to get from one place to another.

Some of the results which we got do correspond with each other and although it was not the most accurate way of recording them the theory of it worked. If we were to use computers with some sort of blue tooth device this may prove more accurate. My main objective would be to use about 8-10 blue tooth devices sited around a specific area of the building at a certain time of day for maybe a week too see if i could maybe detected the same people at roughly the same time. (these people will b identified by their blue tooth name) Hopefully i will begin to see a sort of ordered structure of where people walk through the building and when.

Although i will not be able to pin point the exact location of the people but by placing the receivers in a certain positions i may be able to retrieve a rough trajectory of which way they pass through the building.

first idea.

Ok, so we have been put into groups and given the task of mapping out the space inside drake circus as you know. We started thinking about maybe using blue tooth technology on our phones to track other people who have theirs turned on.

For a test run today me and Will Morris went into Drake Circus and stood between Boots and water stones on the lower section of the center, every minuet we refreshed the blue tooth search on our phones and wrote down the time and the names of the devices we saw in and attempt to try and locate some traveling between me and Will. We were out of range of each other so that it was not possible to pick up the same person at the same time.
